Its sidewalk cafe tables and gleaming entrance invite attention from shoppers and pedestrians. It's got location; it's got pleasant ambience and it's got a long, ambitious menu and always has something interesting on the stove such as duck ragout, mushroom tortelloni or grilled octopus.
Chef Pino takes Italian cooking seriously, "Simple food like we eat on the islands of Italy. I was born on Ischia the eighth largest Italian island and the largest in the Bay of Naples. Right near Capri. Everything fresh and nothing heavy. I buy only the best quality and I get it delivered everyday. Swordfish, brazino, dorado even fresh shrimp and Florida lobster when they are in season," Chef Pino promises. He has been delivering on that promise for II years going back to when he was executive chef and partner at Gastronomia.
Dazzling yet simple, Pino's captures the hallmarks of southern Italian cuisine at its best. This menu does not offer clams casino or fried calamari to satisfy diners who might wander in, the way some restaurants do. Pino is a conscientious compiler of original recipes, and he tries to keep the cooking grounded in the earthy, simple foods of his family's home region.
